I am a fine artist and my primary focus is on painting and drawing, mostly
working representationally with oil paint on either canvas or paper. I record what I
see in a realistic manner, whether it is my observations of humanity, sometimes in a
voyeuristic sense, or the everyday mundane. I am especially interested in the way
light affects the subject matter and the color interaction of a given composition.
My education includes four years of study of fine arts at Moore College of Art
and Design (September 1991-May 2001) followed by 2 years at the Graduate School
of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania (September 1999- May 2001) with a
focus on painting and art education at the University of Pennsylvania: College of
General Studies (March 2000- May 2000), under the tutelage and guidance of Frank
Hyder and then department chair John Moore.
My teaching experience encompasses working with High school students at
Moore College of Art and Design for The Young Artists Workshop (June 2001 –
2003), painting and figure drawing. Drexel University; Visual Studies Department
instructing drawing to undergraduate students (September 2006- May 2008).
Followed by teaching at The Art Institute of Philadelphia in the Interior Design
Department (April 2003- March 2011), teaching Drawing, Color Theory, Drafting
and Rendering and Presentation Instructor and 3-D model making. Upon relocation
to New Hampshire, my most recent teaching experience includes teaching drawing
and painting to adults through The Keene Community Education program at the
Keene High school.
